Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets to join their accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining and reconciling fixed and intangible asset records, supporting capital expenditure reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, ERP experience, and a proactive approach to continuous process improvement.
Fixed Assets & Capital Accounting
- Record and track additions, disposals, impairments, and depreciation/amortization for tangible and intangible assets using ERP systems such as Sage or M3.
- Coordinate with tax and finance teams to ensure accurate tax treatment of assets.
- Manage capital lease accounting using tools such as ViaReport.
- Reconcile fixed and intangible asset accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies between sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
- Prepare capital expenditure reports including budgets, forecasts, and actuals.
- Record intercompany transactions and generate related invoicing.
Financial Close & Reporting
- Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Analyze P&L activity and expense variances for assigned departments, such as R&D or operations.
- Prepare internal financial reports and statistical summaries to support business decisions.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Audit & Compliance Support
- Provide documentation and reconciliations to support internal and external audits (e.g., financial, tax, lease).
- Maintain detailed and organized audit-ready records related to fixed and intangible assets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with departments across the organization to deliver meaningful financial insights and support budgeting processes.
- Educate teams on accounting principles and support compliance with internal controls.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to ensure efficiency and data integrity.
Additional Support
- Provide backup coverage for key finance functions, including payroll accounting, cash reconciliations, and expense reporting audits.
- Support ad-hoc projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or ERP-driven environment.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and fixed asset accounting principles.
- Experience with Sage, M3, or other fixed asset and ERP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace tools.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating across departments and levels of management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
