About the Company:
Our client, a well-established organization in Monterey is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. The Assistant Controller will oversee an accounting manager and report directly to the Controller.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting the Controller in various financial processes. This position requires a strong leader with extensive experience in accounting practices, team management, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Monitor compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other related accounting functions.
- Coordinate the year-end audit process and prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Work closely with the Controller to develop and implement accounting best practices, processes, and internal controls.
- Perform ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred but work equivalency will suffice.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
