Our client, a well-established publicly traded retail company, is seeking a Vice President – Controller to lead their corporate accounting and reporting functions. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, operational accounting, and internal controls in a complex, fast-paced public company environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the corporate accounting function, including general ledger, month-end close, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and payroll.

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all SEC reports (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.

  • Maintain and enhance SOX compliance and internal control frameworks across all accounting processes.

  • Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and other cross-functional teams to support strategic and operational initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a growing team of 5+ accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

  • Serve as a key accounting advisor to executive leadership and external auditors.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including recent experience in a U.S. publicly traded company.

  • Proven track record of ownership over SEC filings (10-Q/10-K).

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, and operational accounting best practices.

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented leader with the ability to operate strategically while managing daily accounting functions.

  • Prior experience in retail, consumer products, or multi-entity environments is highly desirable.
