A publicly traded, tech-driven insurance corporation is seeking a hands-on Technical Accounting Manager to lead complex accounting matters and serve as the go-to expert for high-impact transactions. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys deep technical work—researching issues, drafting memos, shaping accounting policies—and partnering with the business on new and evolving initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead all technical accounting activities under U.S. GAAP and insurance-industry statutory reporting.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on complex and emerging accounting issues, providing hands-on research, analysis, and written technical memos.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on new business arrangements, complex transactions, and evolving operations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide accounting policies that align with current standards and industry best practices.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams—including Finance, Tax, FP&A, and external auditors—to support technical reviews, new transactions, and special projects.
• Review financial disclosures within 10-K and 10-Q filings; this role includes exposure to SEC reporting but is not solely focused on SEC reporting.
• Monitor and implement new accounting pronouncements relevant to the insurance and financial services industry.
• Support strategic initiatives requiring technical accounting insights and process improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

• Progressive technical accounting career with 6+ years of experience, including a few years in a management or review role.
• CPA required; strong command of U.S. GAAP and comfort working with both statutory and GAAP frameworks.
• Deep, hands-on experience researching technical issues, writing memos, and working through complex transactions.
• Background in the insurance or broader financial services industry strongly preferred.
• Candidates directly coming from public accounting Big 4 or Top 20 public accounting firms with a specialization in insurance clients are encouraged to apply!
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, influence decision-making, and operate in a fast-moving, highly technical environment.
