A large, well-established privately held corporation headquartered in California is seeking a Tax Director to join its leadership team. This is a strategic role with broad responsibility, overseeing tax planning, compliance, and reporting across a diverse, multi-entity organization.

Responsibilities:

As Tax Director, you will lead the company’s entire tax function and influence major business decisions, including:

• Overseeing all federal, state, and local tax matters, including income, franchise, sales/use, property, payroll, and other applicable taxes
• Leading tax planning for complex multi-entity structures, capital investments, and strategic business initiatives
• Managing ASC 740 income tax provision and financial statement reporting
• Serving as the primary liaison with external advisors, auditors, and taxing authorities
• Monitoring legislative and regulatory changes to proactively manage tax risk
• Guiding tax strategy for acquisitions, entity structuring, and major transactions
• Supervise a tax manager directly and indirectly, tax associates
• Establishing scalable processes and internal controls to support enterprise growth

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• CPA license is preferred but not required
• 8+ years experience in tax
• Experience in large, multi-entity organizations, but straight public accounting background will be considered
• Deep expertise in federal and state income tax, partnership taxation, and multi-entity structures
• Experience managing ASC 740 tax provisions
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and external advisors
• Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
