We are representing a high-growth, publicly traded energy company headquartered in Manhattan that is actively seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting. As the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, you will support the company’s SEC and statutory reporting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable regulatory standards. You’ll be a critical part of the financial reporting team and work cross-functionally with accounting, audit, and finance to support external reporting and internal process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including financial statements, MD&A, and footnote disclosures.
- Prepare disclosure checklists and ensure compliance with all relevant GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements for foreign and domestic subsidiaries, including reconciliation of US GAAP to IFRS or local GAAP.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to analyze new or complex transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment and disclosure.
- Serve as a point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit support and documentation.
- Help maintain and enhance compliance with SOX/internal controls related to the financial reporting process.
- Assist in implementing new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842, ASC 606) and company accounting policies across domestic and international entities.
- Contribute to special projects, reporting enhancements, and process improvement initiatives as the company continues to scale.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA is a plus.
- 1–3+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience, ideally in a Big 4 public accounting firm (audit and/or accounting advisory background preferred).
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and familiarity with IFRS or statutory reporting for international subsidiaries is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain accounting concepts and interact with multiple stakeholders.
- Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
