Are you a leave and compliance expert ready to lead? We're a technology-driven company headquartered in Richmond's West End, and we're looking for a strategic, people-first Leave Manager to own and elevate our leave of absence and accommodation programs.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of compliance, employee experience, and operational excellence.

What you will be doing:

As our Leave Manager, you'll provide strategic oversight of all leave and accommodation programs: FMLA, ADA, short- and long-term disability, workers' compensation coordination, and applicable state and local leave laws. You'll lead a team of leave specialists and serve as the go-to expert for complex, escalated cases across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of leave specialists while setting clear performance expectations and supporting professional growth
  • Overseeing end-to-end leave administration — from eligibility determinations and medical certification management to intermittent leave tracking and return-to-work coordination
  • Partnering with Legal, HR Business Partners, and business leaders to ensure policy compliance and a consistent employee experience
  • Monitoring federal, state, and local legislative changes and translating them into updated policies, processes, and practices
  • Analyzing leave trends and metrics to identify risks and drive continuous improvement\
  • Managing third-party leave and disability vendor relationships, ensuring accuracy and service excellence
  • Collaborating with HRIS and Benefits teams to maintain data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Maintaining confidential medical documentation in full compliance with legal and company requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degree or HR certification — PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP — a plus)
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in leave administration, compliance, or benefits, with hands-on FMLA, ADA, and state leave law expertise
  • Prior experience leading or managing a team strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local leave and accommodation regulations
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases, assess risk, and make sound, compliant decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving instincts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/leave management systems
