HR Generalist (Standalone Role)

Location: [Long Island  / 5 days a week Onsite]
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist to serve as the company’s sole HR professional. This is a hands-on, operational role responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions while building scalable processes to support a growing organization. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning the full HR lifecycle.

HR Operations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related questions and issues

  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and systems

  • Administer payroll, timesheets, and time & attendance through Paychex (in coordination with the bookkeeper)

  • Conduct exit interviews and track trends

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for open positions

  • Coordinate hiring processes, offer letters, and onboarding paperwork

  • Improve onboarding communications and overall new-hire experience

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, sick time, and FSA

  • Act as liaison with benefits providers and respond to employee inquiries

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance and support employee relations matters

  • Assist with HR policies, handbook updates, and compliance initiatives

  • Help establish HR audits and scalable compliance processes

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and applicable employment regulations

Process Improvement

  • Identify gaps in HR processes and implement improvements

  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational growth

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for managers and employees

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of HR Generalist experience

  • Experience supporting a growing company, preferably as a standalone HR professional

  • Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, recruiting, and employee relations

  • Experience using HRIS/payroll system

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws
