Our client is an SEC-registered investment manager with approximately $2 billion in assets under management. The firm was founded by principals who held leadership roles at some of the largest names in American solar, and it sits at the intersection of sustainability and financial innovation, deploying capital at scale to support the energy transition. The finance team is growing quickly, and this is a newly created seat on that team.

 

The Role

This role supports the finance team across accounting, finance, and operations for the firm's management company. You will own monthly close for the management company books, support annual audits, and work closely with the fund accounting team on cost allocations between the management company and the funds. This is a highly visible seat with direct exposure to senior leadership.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting for monthly close, including journal entries, cash reconciliations, and capital account allocations. Prepare unaudited monthly financial statements and support year-end audited financials with external auditors, ensuring timely completion (50%)
  • Prepare FP&A analysis of budget to actuals for senior management (10%)
  • Manage vendor payments for both management company and fund expenses, coordinating with the fund accounting team on chargebacks between the management company and the funds (30%)
  • Assist with preparing data for regulatory filings and quarterly and annual tax reporting, along with other ad hoc reporting (10%)

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of corporate accounting experience in private equity or hedge funds, or public accounting experience covering private fund or hedge fund clients
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
  • Prior experience coordinating year-end financial statement audits with external auditors
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present financial performance to senior leadership
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership mentality, and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Preferred: familiarity with carried interest and management fee revenue for investment advisors, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and operating leases

 

Compensation

  • $125k-140k + bonus
