A tech-driven insurance corporation is seeking an Associate Director, Tax to lead tax provision processes, support regulatory reporting, and partner cross-functionally across a complex, multi-state corporate environment. This is a high-impact role for a tax professional who brings both public accounting rigor and industry experience within insurance or broader financial services.

The Associate Director, Tax will oversee income tax compliance, GAAP and statutory tax provisions, multi-state filings, and tax planning initiatives. This leader will manage core tax processes, work closely with external advisors, and collaborate across Finance, Transformation, and operational teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement in the tax function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory tax provision processes across a multi-state insurance environment.
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax returns for corporate entities and insurance subsidiaries.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders supporting compliance and provision activities.
• Review tax accounting results, ensure data integrity, and leverage technology to streamline workflows.
• Support tax audits, notices, and regulatory inquiries.
• Drive tax planning, forecasting, and strategic tax projects.
• Stay current on insurance-specific tax updates and guide internal teams on implications.
• Partner across Finance to support system enhancements, automation, and reporting improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

• Public accounting foundation (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred) followed by progressive insurance industry experience.
• CPA required
• Strong background in ASC 740, tax provisions, and multi-state tax compliance.
• Experience supporting insurance industry or financial services tax operations is highly preferred.
• Ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional partners, and operate within a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
