Job description

We are seeking a candidate from public accounting experienced and to join a dynamic real estate investment company based in Dallas, TX. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting the company’s financial operations. This position will report directly to the Controller and work closely with other members of the finance team to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including posting journal entries and ensuring proper coding of transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts and analyze variances between actual results and budgeted/forecasted amounts.
  • Prepare and provide documentation and support for internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, including reconciling bank statements and overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Track and manage the company’s fixed assets, ensuring proper recording, depreciation, and reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns, including property tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Participate in and lead special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of public accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience is highly preferred.
  • CPA certification is highly preferred but not a must have.
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus, especially MS Excel.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate investment accounting principles. Experience with financial reporting and fixed asset management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
