A Controller is needed on a direct hire REMOTE basis for a leading, private corporation in the engineering services space. The Controller will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in accounting and financial management, who can effectively lead and mentor a team while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and support to team members.
  • Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, staff, and senior accountant.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing any audit findings.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analyses to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems; experience with [specific software your company uses] is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote work environment.
