A leading, global, publicly traded consumer product manufacturing corporation is a seeking a Vice President of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting for their U.S. headquarters based in New York.

The Vice President of Technical Accounting and SEC reporting will own the accounting conclusions behind a global consumer products portfolio while leading the integrity, accuracy, and credibility of external reporting. This role won’t just interpret GAAP — it will shape how the company navigates it as the business grows, acquires, innovates, and scales.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all technical accounting matters, including complex transactions, new accounting standards, and policy development under US GAAP
  • Own SEC reporting end-to-end, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and related disclosures
  • Serve as the primary accounting authority for business initiatives such as acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring, and new product or revenue models
  • Partner closely with Finance, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and Investor Relations to ensure consistent, accurate, and defensible reporting
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors and advisors, resolving issues efficiently and confidently
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing technical accounting and SEC reporting team
  • Stay ahead of emerging accounting and SEC developments, translating guidance into practical business application
  • Provide clear, executive-level communication to senior leadership and the Audit Committee

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience
  • Consumer products industry experience within a large, complex organization
  • Recent, hands-on SEC reporting experience for a publicly traded company (must be within the last two years)
  • Deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Proven experience leading technical accounting for complex transactions
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • CPA is preferred but not required
  • Public accounting background is preferred but not required
