A leading global manufacturing organization headquartered in the San Fernando Valley is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to play a critical role in driving financial accuracy, operational insight, and cost discipline across the business. This position partners closely with operations and finance leadership and provides deep visibility into raw materials, inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full cost accounting cycle for manufacturing operations, including raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
- Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs and perform standard vs. actual cost variance analysis for materials, labor, and overhead
- Analyze and clearly explain cost drivers, production variances, and operational inefficiencies to finance and operations leadership
- Manage inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reserves, and reconciliations
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and FP&A to support cost control initiatives and margin improvement
- Support month-end close related to cost accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc analyses for management and executive review
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and product cost roll-ups
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting
- Support internal and external audit requests as needed
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost accounting processes, systems, and reporting accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with raw materials costing, overhead costing, and standard costing
- Strong background in standard vs. actual variance analysis and inventory accounting
- Solid understanding of manufacturing operations and cost flows
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally
