We have a client seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Real Estate Accounting team in Santa Monica. This role will report to the Accounting Director, Real Estate, and will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of a portion of our commercial real estate portfolio, which includes industrial and office properties. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, hands-on real estate accounting experience, and a collaborative personality that thrives in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned real estate entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with financial statement preparation, management reports, and variance analysis.
• Partner with property managers and asset managers to provide accounting insight on property performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for industrial and office properties.
• Assist with internal controls, process improvements, and audit support.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy of data between Yardi, ERP systems, and reporting platforms.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience (industrial and office property exposure strongly preferred).
• Yardi experience highly preferred; other large-scale ERP experience a plus.
• CPA designation preferred, but not required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP; experience with construction accounting and/or Big 4 public accounting a plus.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a collaborative and team-focused mindset.
