As the organization scales, it is seeking a talented HR professional who is comfortable building and evolving an HR function from the ground up. Position Summary

The HR Generalist will serve as the sole HR professional and play a critical role in building and managing core HR functions. This is a hands-on, operational role focused on supporting employees and leadership while establishing HR processes, improving communication, and ensuring compliance. This role is ideal for a proactive HR professional who enjoys building structure, improving systems, and being a trusted resource for employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters
  • Establish and maintain HR documentation, employee files, and system accuracy
  • Oversee and administer payroll, timesheets, and time & attendance in Paychex (in coordination with the bookkeeper)
  • Conduct exit interviews and track trends
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for open roles
  • Coordinate hiring, offer letters, and onboarding processes
  • Improve onboarding experience, including welcome letters and communication flow
  • Administer employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, sick time, and FSA
  • Serve as liaison with benefits providers and answer employee questions
  • Support employee relations matters and day-to-day HR guidance
  • Assist with policy development, handbook updates, and HR compliance
  • Help establish HR audits and compliance processes as the company grows
  • Ensure adherence to applicable employment laws and healthcare-related regulations
  • Identify gaps in HR processes and implement scalable solutions
  • Partner with leadership to support company growth and workforce planning
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management and employees

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of progressive HR Generalist experience
  • Experience supporting growing organizations, preferably as a standalone HR professional
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll, benefits, recruiting, and employee relations
  • Experience with Paychex or similar HRIS/payroll systems
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • SHRM, PHR, or similar certification preferred but not required
