Our client, a fast-growing fashion eCommerce brand based in Manhattan, is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead and strengthen their accounting function. This individual will be a critical part of the finance team—bringing leadership, precision, and a process-improvement mindset to a high-growth and style-forward environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll accounting, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
Supervise and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
Design, review, and improve financial models, reporting tools, and account reconciliations using advanced Excel techniques.
Drive process improvements across accounting operations and participate in ERP system enhancements or implementations (RLM preferred).
Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and other consultants as needed.
Support the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with the FP&A team.
Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and areas for efficiency gains.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance to leadership and stakeholders.
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Operations, Inventory, and eCommerce to align accounting practices with business objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA certification strongly preferred).
5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
Proven ability to manage and develop accounting staff.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; capable of building and managing complex financial models.
Experience working in accounting software and ERP systems; RLM experience preferred.
Experience with Concur and Shopify is a strong plus.
Meticulous attention to detail with a natural ability to detect and resolve discrepancies.
Prior experience in the fashion industry—retail, wholesale, or eCommerce—is a major advantage.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across teams.
Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial setting.
