Accounting Manager

A well established employee benefits company, backed by a top tier private equity firm, is hiring an Accounting Manager to help build out a scalable finance function. This is a newly stabilized team coming off a rebuild, so you're stepping into real ownership of process.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Controller and working closely with the CFO, you'll take full ownership of the general accounting function, including the month end, quarter end, and annual close process. You'll oversee the general ledger, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls, with a direct report from day one and room for the role to grow into payroll or AP as scope expands.

What You'll Do

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end to end
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, payroll entries, and other close activities
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and support budget vs actuals reporting
  • Maintain audit ready supporting documentation
  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting
  • Partner with FP&A and business leaders to improve financial reporting and analysis
  • Manage, coach, and develop accounting staff, with a direct report to start and room to build the team further
  • Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support system enhancements, automation initiatives, and finance projects, including active ERP and close automation rollouts
  • Coordinate annual audits and support tax preparation
  • Serve as an accounting resource for business leaders across the organization

What You'll Bring

  • 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including some people leadership
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and month end close
  • Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems

Preferred

  • CPA or actively pursuing certification
  • Public accounting background
  • Experience in a high growth, private equity backed organization
  • Experience supporting a systems implementation or process build out, and comfort mentoring junior team members

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary $115K to $125K, plus bonus eligibility of approximately 10% and equity
