We are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting operations for a diverse commercial real estate portfolio and development projects. Reporting to the Director of Real Estate Accounting, this role offers an excellent opportunity for growth within a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing the close process, and mentoring a small team while partnering closely with property management, development, and other corporate functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for the real estate portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all financial transactions.
  • Manage monthly close, quarterly reporting, and annual financial statement preparation.
  • Interpret and apply complex lease agreements, including tenant chargebacks and CAM reconciliations.
  • Review financials, reconciliations, and reporting packages for properties and development projects.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting and construction-in-progress activity, ensuring timely capitalization.
  • Partner with property managers, asset managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate financial results.
  • Prepare and review lender reporting packages, ensuring compliance with covenants.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Tax to support tax filings and deliverables.
  • Train, mentor, and develop accounting team members, fostering a positive and high-performance culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of real estate accounting experience, including industrial, office, or development projects.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing and developing accounting staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles (lease accounting, CAM reconciliations, fixed assets).
  • Yardi Voyager experience highly preferred; other ERP experience a plus.
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or mid-tier) a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
